SUMMER CAMPS FOR STUDENTS AGES 7-13
Week long summer camps that include studies in dance, music, theater and arts are offered for students ages 7-13 throughout the month of June. Classes include movement, guitar, piano, art and theater studies. Sessions run daily from 9AM – 4PM. The week concludes with a student presentation for parents and guests. Tuition is $300 for each week of study and is open to all interested students and does not include an audition process.

Summer 2011 Performing Arts Intensive
July 16th - 30th
Each Summer for two weeks up to twenty of the nation’s most talented high school students are selected to study and perform in this award winning summer intensive programs. Students from across the state and nation study drama, musical theater and opera. Nationally renowned instructors teach daily classes in dance, theater studies, opera, diction, repertoire to name a few. Rehearsals and performances for a one-act scenes program are part of the studies during this time.
The intensive also includes a collaborative component where the students create, write ad perform an original opera. Based on the life of an historical figure, the students research and under the mentorship of Mr. Roger Ames, resident composer collaborate to write a one act opera.
Auditions are held in the fall of each year. Students may audition in person, by dvd or by you tube and must present two contrasting songs and two contrasting monologues.
Central City Opera House Association is the nation's fifth-oldest opera company, located just 35 miles west of Denver in one of Colorado's official National Landmark Historic Districts. The company continues to present artistically excellent professional opera in an annual summer festival; to offer career-entry training to young singers; to produce education and community service programs; and to preserve and maintain the Opera House and 30 other Victorian-era properties.
The Central City Opera House was built in 1878 by Welsh and Cornish miners. This National Historic Landmark, centerpiece of the historic gold mining town of Central City, has hosted performances of the nation's fifth-oldest opera company since 1932. Central City Opera's national summer festival attracts patrons from all over the country and abroad to enjoy intimate opera in its 550-seat opera house. The festival is internationally acclaimed and is host to the prestigious Bonfils-Stanton Apprentice program for young opera singers. www.centralcity.org
